Amelia’s Story

Amelia* didn’t believe in abortion, but isolation and financial instability made her feel like she had no choice. She had her toddler to care for, and those closest to her were coercing her to abort—making it clear that choosing to continue her pregnancy would cost her the only support system she had.

She had an abortion scheduled, but came to Thrive Medical Clinic earlier that same week to confirm how far along she was. Overwhelmed with emotion, she shared her fears and pain with our team, who listened with compassion and helped her explore resources that could open the door to life-affirming options. When she saw her baby actively bouncing on the ultrasound screen, everything changed. She knew she could not go through with the abortion—no matter how hard the road ahead might be.

When Amelia chose to parent, her support system walked away. But she clung to hope, knowing she was not alone; we helped step into that gap and continued to walk alongside her with tangible and emotional support. She received a dresser stocked full of brand new baby items donated by a local church. We prayed with her when she picked up her dresser, and many tears and hugs were shared.

We are continually inspired by Amelia’s strength and resilience. Her fierce love and determination are a powerful reminder of what can happen when someone is given the support they need.
